Instagram has become one of the most powerful social media platforms with over 800 million monthly active users, which qualifies it as a great place for a business to reach their target audience and get leads.

What content will you create to help you stand out from your competitors? How can you be creative while still conveying the right message for your business? Creating shareable content on Instagram can be a challenge, but following these key elements of content development can make the process a little less stressful.

1. Be Consistent

Establishing a style for how you want your posts to look is important for a channel like Instagram which is primarily visual. By using some of the same filters, angles, and points-of-view, your audience will recognize your business by the look of your content. It is great to have diversity within the subject matter that you post, but it should also be consistent and original while reflecting your brand’s perspective. By using the same characteristics, your audience will associate posted images with your brand.

2. Determine What You’ll Post About

Instagram is a channel to showcase company culture along with what your business is promoting. Create a sense of personality for your account so your followers are able to relate to you on a deeper level.

For example, if you’re an auto company, post high-quality photos of different vehicles and your employees. In addition, it is also more captivating to vary that content by giving your viewers a behind-the-scenes look at company events, your offices, and images that will catch the user’s eye. Instagram also enables users to publish more than one picture or video in a single post, which can help when deciding what you should post.

3. Get Creative

One of the newest features that Instagram provides are Stories, which enable businesses to get creative for a temporary amount of time; Stories are only available to be viewed for 24 hours. By posting timed photos and videos, businesses can produce experimental content that they may not want to have directly on their feed but is still made available to the public. Another benefit to using Stories is that they’ll appear above the feed, so you can further stand out from the accounts users follow.

Show off your creative process with raw footage that shows the public what’s going on at your business. Announce coupons or offers that utilize the strict time period and link to your main profile. You can even use hashtags or personalized phrases to connect members of your target audience that can be included in Story posts and in the caption of photos added to your main feed.

4. Instagram Ads

When Facebook bought Instagram in 2012, they added it to their audience network, which enables your ad to be found on both platforms and across all devices. By advertising on both Facebook and Instagram, you can reach a wide audience and stand out from your competitors online. Learn more about Instagram Advertising here.

Creating content for Instagram can be an exciting experience that takes your business to new levels of online exposure. Let us know in the comments how these tips worked for you, and check out these statistics on what makes Instagram stand out from other social media platforms!
