This came across my inbox today from Sean, who had it forwarded to him from Robert Topping at KOLA FM in Riverside, California....

"General Mills reports increased sales, marketing boost
General Mills, which markets such well-known food brands as Cheerios, Yoplait, Progresso and Pillsbury, reported an 11% uptick in sales for the first half of its fiscal 2009, totaling $7.5 billion. In a presentation to the Consumer Analysts Group, company CEO Ken Powell credited the rise in part to increased marketing, both digital and traditional, to keep its brands in the spotlight. Advertising Age (2/17)"

I love to read blurbs like this but as you get into the actual article you will see that General Mills likes the presence they have with TV and the positioning they accomplish online.
