Connected TV's Now At Critical Mass

Dec 5, 2018 by Mark Maier

An article from MediaPost highlights what is happening with Smart TV's and the 83% that are connected to the internet...a great stat to know if your property sells a CTV or OTT video solution...

"The number of smart TV owners who have connected their device to the Internet has increased to 83% of owners, according to new research from Parks Associates.

The number is an increase from the 70% who connected their TVs to the Internet in 2014.

Ownership of streaming media players has nearly doubled from 21% of U.S. broadband households in 2014 to nearly 40% now. Meanwhile, smart TV ownership has increased from 34% to 53% during the same period.

"More connected devices open more opportunities for streaming and OTT services in the home, prompting more service announcements such as AT&T's plans to offer a tiered video streaming service," stated Elizabeth Parks, senior vice president of Parks Associates."

Our vendor just announced addressable OTT or CTV opportunities meaning that we can target down to the household with a geofencing technique that gives us the option of what screen size the ads will serve on as well. With video being a hot button for sales potential this year and looking to grow in 2019, this is something to get onboard with.
